Owner Mark Laska says, “I convey my love for people by cooking for them.” When he opened Ciao, he set out to create the kind of personable, memorable experience that feeds the soul and nourishes the body with fresh and beautiful food.
Today, Ciao has transformed from Whidbey Island’s most beloved pizzeria to a destination for artisan Italian meals, groceries, wines, and gifts. Enjoy casual bites or fine dining at Ciao’s flagship restaurant in Coupeville, shop for authentic Italian flavors and foods in our market online and in store, join our wine club, and more!
Laska apprenticed under the greatest living pizzaiolo (master chef specializing in pizza) and one of the founders of the slow food movement. He immersed himself in the food culture of southern Italy and learned to mill flour with Caputo, mozzarella production in Paestum, olive oil and curing near Tuscany, pasta making in Gregano, and tomato production in the fields and canneries of San Marzano. When he opened Ciao 10 years ago, Laska brought those unique flavors and authentic techniques to Washington.
